About the Bard

Tom Wells was born in Australia, into a family of creative sparks and storytellers. Raised on speculative fiction, he has been telling stories for most of his life. Though he only started writing them down when he realised he’d go mad otherwise.

Honing his craft through a variety of mediums, like selling video games, washing dishes, and dealing cards at a casino, he was eventually certified. The piece of paper given to him says something about creative writing, and it got him a job as a full-time writer. He’s been working in that capacity, or similar ones, ever since.

When he isn’t working, he spends his time reviewing short fiction submissions for Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, developing stories for tabletop role-playing campaigns, and scribbling notes onto whatever scraps of paper he can find lying around.

Occasionally, he’ll post them on the walls of the Stag.

Tom recently became an ex-pat, packing up his life in Brisbane to settle down in Oakland, California, where he lives with his girlfriend, and their menagerie of animals. He is the author of The Realm Apparent: Foundational World Building for Speculative Fiction, and is pretending to write his first novel.
